Methods & sources
Where FullyReporting's numbers come from, and how they're handled.
The basics
- Official sources first. Results and turnout come from state and county election offices whenever they publish them.
- Other sources are named. When an official source isn’t available, the page says which public source was used instead, such as the University of Florida Election Lab.
- Every interactive explains itself. Each tracker and model has a plain-English methods section on its own page.
2026 race map
The race map counts 35 Senate races (the 33 regularly scheduled seats, plus special elections in Ohio and Florida) and 36 governor races.
Early vote tracker
The 2026 early vote tracker lists the source for each state on that state’s page. Statewide totals are compared with each state’s 2022 vote. Party makeup and county charts are compared with past results, usually the final 2024 count; each state’s page says which.
Precinct maps
Each precinct map will name its results source and its precinct boundary source, and note any precincts that couldn’t be matched.
